Founding Manifesto

Independent reportage sustained by craft patronage

We operate outside the venture-backed media model, funding long-form cultural criticism and music journalism directly through reader subscriptions and single-origin coffee roasts.

Editorial Integrity

Rejecting algorithms for slow print and deep criticism

Modern media thrives on immediate reaction, sacrificing investigative depth for algorithmic velocity. We commission critical essays that take months to report and artist profiles that look past the release cycle to examine the long arc of creative work.

Every subscription and every bag of coffee roasted in our Brooklyn studio goes directly toward compensating writers, photographers, and editors fairly for rigorous, uncompromised reporting.

The Roastery & Print

Single-origin coffees funding physical journalism

Our weekly roasts source beans directly from smallholder farms in Colombia and Ethiopia, roasted to a medium profile designed for quiet morning reading. Sustaining members receive both the quarterly print volume and our signature seasonal roast delivered monthly.
